Marion E. Nightingale, 83, of Lafayette, died at 10:18 p.m. Monday, February 19, 2001 in Home Hospital. Born March 25, 1917 in Benton County, he had been a Lafayette resident since 1960, previously residing in Wolcott, Reynolds and Monon. He was a Monon High School graduate and had attended Ivy Tech State College. He was a farmer and had worked for Purdue University. On May 5, 1992, he married Dorothy Emery in Lafayette. She survives. His first marriage was to Hazel Clary. She preceded him in death in 1983. Mr. Nightingale was a member of Lafayette First Southern Baptist Church, Senior Citizens at Jenks Rest, and Ambassador Band. He also enjoyed fishing. Also surviving, are: a daughter, Connie (Michael) Burke of Lafayette; a stepson, Rick (Cheri) Roden of Lafayette; two stepdaughters, Jeanne Yeoman of West Lafayette and Margaret (Don) Christopher of Denver; a brother, John Nightingale of Medaryville; a sister, Ellen Norman of Monon; two grandchildren, four step grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Visitation was Wednesday at Hippensteel Funeral Home. Service at 10 a.m. Thursday at First Southern Baptist Church with Rev. Fred Seifert officiating.
